Do you root for your favorite athlete or team and think that’s what racing is all about—fair competition? Not a chance! Secret deals, setups, bribing drivers, and games involving the buying up of technology—that’s the real behind-the-scenes heart of racing. What the spectators see is just a staged show; the real racing is happening behind the scenes, among the capitalists. And every new driver, naively entering the “big races,” realizes this sooner or later. This is where the real intrigue begins: will he accept the true rules of racing to become a wealthy but hypocritical actor on the track, or will he remain an honest and upright person, true to his dreams and his calling? It’s no easy choice, for kindness and honesty do not go unpunished. You have to fight for them. And it’s good when you have a family, and they’re on your side in this.

The film’s plot is also interesting because it demonstrates the dialectical idea of self-development. Corrupt races create the illusion of fair competition. People perceive this illusion as the truth and are inspired by it to participate in the races. But once they enter the races, they are forced to break their old notions—or... to break the races themselves, to make them conform to their own ideas about them. And since these ideas were born in the process of perceiving illusions, the contradictory system of racing itself becomes the cause of self-transformation.

All you capitalists should keep this in mind, the ones who present things as if every person is free, as if they can achieve everything on their own and no one is holding them back, as if by working harder and better for the good of society, they are bound to achieve prosperity and respect... After all, there may be people who take this seriously, write these demands on their banners, and come to the “masters,” angry that they’ve been fed a line for so many years.
