Story Movie
The once-in-demand actor Nicolas Cage is going through a prolonged midlife crisis: his career demands a comeback; his ex-wife and 16-year-old daughter are tired of his inflated ego; the hotel where he lives already owes Cage $600,000. And all the agent has to offer is a million-dollar flight to Mallorca for the birthday of a fan favorite, Olive King Javi Gutierrez. On the island, Cage is approached by the CIA, asking for help, claiming that the darling Javi is a major arms dealer and has kidnapped the Catalan politician's daughter before the election.
Review 4K Movie
Nicolas Cage's fame has preceded him by many years. Now people don't watch movies with him (except for true fans), only the old pictures with him are catchy and breathtaking. Nick has to run for roles in every way possible, literally coaxing directors (a cameo of David Gordon Green directing the new 'Halloween' trilogy). While he's busy with himself, he can't give his attention and care to his daughter Eddie and visit his ex-wife Olivia.
Another rejection, forces him to end it all. But before that, he has to close his debts by going to the rich and powerful Javi Gutiérrez's anniversary party.
Actors: Nicolas Cage - bravo, bravo, bravo! In this movie he really pulled it off, he really pulled it off. Yes, and in conjunction with some funny LSD acting, he also manages to be the perfect spy. That is, the U.S. government recruits him in the hope that he will find the president's daughter Maria Delgado (performer Karina Vankova is crazy about Cage). He will have to do both jobs at once, but also relying on his acting instinct that his new friend Javi is not the enemy at all. The actor has adapted himself beautifully. Some reviewers (if any) will say that Cage played his own cartoon universe (Marvel and ST joke included). It's not a parallel world either. It's just a reality in which each of the actors suffers for real. By the way, Bruce Willis (I'm telling you this PoluDemon) ended his career due to aphasia, a speech disorder that developed on the back of dementia, which he struggled with and was forced to lose. So his brief involvement in the film for a tick (despite being number one on the actor's list), is quite justified. But I digress. The point is that the data collection has to be right. Because of this, many of the largely unclaimed actors of yesteryear suffer from us reviewers and angry reviews (see 'Bubble'). But, that's where the acting comes in. Either get a second life (unless they're laid up in a hospital bed, sorry Bruce) thanks to remakes/reboots. And Cage isn't like that! He's working hard and will be back in big Hollywood soon. As if that's not bad luck.
By the way, here he plays his alter ego (kind of like the Fuhrer played by Taika Waititi) named Nikki. This CGI-edited vampire sucker in a leather vest a la Ghost Rider instructs the real Nick. But the doppelganger aimed to kick him out the window.
Pedro Pascal played a true fan. A true fan. And he proves it with all his gut. And when they enter Cage's personal museum of history and memorabilia - where a bunch of references to various movies are made - Javi (Pascal) shows himself to be a grown-up kid. But the way he convinces the actor to agree to another adventure. I liked the scene during the arrival when the actor thinks he was invited by a pervert. Their personal 'fist and palm' greeting speaks to their honor for each other and their respect for good old-fashioned art.
Alessandra Mastronardi plays Gabriela. From the very first moment, you can guess that she will become a muse for one of the characters.
In reality, Cage has one sons. Despite this, I'll repeat the above. Not surprisingly, the plot decided on Nick's illegitimate daughter. I feel this was not only a scripted idea, but also a personal request from the actor. Lily Mo Sheen (daughter of Beckinsale and Michael Sheen) did a great job playing Eddie, who was neglected by her father. It's nice to see that the actress has steered clear of roles involving her mother.
Despite this, I'd like to point out one fact. One of the sons with a pronounced name (named after an iconic DC superhero, a role Cage claimed to play. But it didn't work out because of Burton's Knight. And so the father endowed Cal Al with the failed role of father).
Even among Cage's wives one can never find Olivia. You can count them on your fingers. From Korean to Presley's daughter. Sharon Horgan slipped into the role of the sensible mother trying to set her ex-husband straight.
Willis's ex-wife Demi Moore and Anna MacDonald make cameo appearances. Both appear nearer the end. But, how spectacularly they play the screen family. Tiffany Haddish sees Cage's character as a chance to be part of a special operation. Too bad Neil Patrick Harris didn't play himself. He's mercilessly lacking here. Well, and Vivien's partner (played by Ike Barinholtz) is prejudiced against the actor's talent.
Everything else: It's a terrific, mind-blowing adventure in which the actor revels in his once former glory. And redefines family values. I also hope he returns to the big movies. And without Hollywood, the actor manages to prove that he can be proud of his filmography. Both 'before' and 'after'. And audiences have long rehabilitated him. Even though for 12 years in a row since 2011 he's had some weird movies. I know he's great! Tom Gormickan directed this spy comedy, co-writing the script with Kevin Etten. The authors don't forget to show Cage as if he were back in 'The Rock. Cliff jumping is included. Thank you to cinematographer Nigel Blacc for the rooftop scene. And composer Mark Eisham is working with Nick for the fourth time since 'The Prophet'. If I'm wrong, correct me. His musical theme makes a difference at a pivotal moment in the life of screen Cage. There are touching notes during the rescue operation--accompanied by the composer's accompaniment.
Impressions: How do you watch 'Treasure of the Nation 3' now knowing that Nicholas - based on the DVD extras - really runs.
A rabid, frantic, not one bit exaggerated and successful version of Nicolas Cage's comeback. God, I sound like Nicholas from the movie already. Fucking Cage. And if you had any doubts that the actor was back in 'Mandy,' this movie will dispel the myth of his choice of low-grade projects.
