Review 4K Movie

So, I won't rant too much. The movie is great. It surprised even a watched person like me, and I've seen all sorts of things in my life. What follows will be water and subjectivity.

My experience with this series of movies began with the fact that in the noughties the American remake of 1998 was often shown on Channel One and I liked it more or less. After quite a long time I found out that there are a lot of Godzilla movies and crossovers with other huge monsters like King Kong, but even at the time when I found out that, they looked ridiculous to me. If I came across them, I just turned them on, watched the moments, spat at the special effects, and turned them off. I can't take old movies. I understand that the technology was not what it is now, that it was at one time an original idea, that it is a cult movie .... It's just not my thing. I sometimes find old movies from the first half of the 20th century painful to watch.

Catastrophe movies, where a huge creature destroys cities, I had little interest in, from more or less fresh pictures I can only single out Guillermo del Toro's 'Pacific Rim', which at one time I went very well, but to immerse myself in films of this genre did not inspire me.

So, my story is done, now the movie!

To begin with, I didn't understand why the makers decided to pile drama around the main character and the characters around him, but it was woven into the plot so well that I then suddenly realized why it was done that way. When the canonical Japanese Godzilla appears on screen, I cringed a little at the ridiculous design, but then seeing the creature's abilities made me realize that it's not as simple as it seems. The time of action here is the second half of the forties of the 20th century, Japan lost in World War II, famine, devastation, poverty - all the horrors of the consequences of war. And then suddenly there is a huge creature that destroys the remnants of cities and people have to cope with it with primitive technologies of those years. The fights are staged smartly and thoughtfully, the monster is so tense that you feel through the screen primitive horror in front of him, and when he began to kill people because of his actions, I realized why we were imposed drama. In American disaster movies for hundreds of millions of dollars, we very often have people who are just puppets being scattered and/or devoured by the monster. In Godzilla 2023 from the Japanese, it's done in such a way that you feel sorry for these people. I never once looked at my phone during the 2 hours of the movie, and only started looking at my watch when the movie started to come to its logical conclusion, just to see how much time had passed.
