Review 4K Movie

What Episode VII Didn't Become
A long time ago, when I poorly understood what the cinematic universe was, when the plot of the films was deeply indifferent to me, I saw a wonderful film in which the hero escaped in the belly of a murdered unknown beast, and giant metal elephant-turtles walked across a snowy planet. And, I did not think that such feelings could be repeated in adulthood.

Unexpected discovery: Rogue One awakened the child in me, although the plot was clear, and there was no infantile desire to jump in time to gunfights and fights. It was just great. It was just a classic trilogy, taken to the absolute. It was just exactly the same as many years ago. And, which is very important, without any hidden pathos, without the director's obsessive 'wink' in the style of 'well, you realized that this character is back and everyone is giggling and applauding'.

So Rogue One is of course a fresh perspective. This is another camera job. These are different angles and, as has rightly been noted in the trailer analyzes, this is amazing work with scale. The director and cameraman have done things you believe in. Believe in the size of the Death Star. You believe in the size of a Star Destroyer. And, okay, it was one thing: they launched a comparative infographic, and ended on that. No, here all objects in space are constantly participating in some kind of action. The Death Star moves, the Destroyers join the battle, transports, fighters and bombers are fighting nearby. This is 'wow', this is 'super', this is the action star we wanted. The thriller in which fighters actually shoot down the enemy, and bombers deliver pinpoint torpedo strikes, where the technique creates real cover, and not just 'hang out for extras', as in The Force Awakens. And, yes, this is the exact same combat staging that was in the original trilogy. I am delighted. This is a new cinematographer's take on the old scale of star battles.

The next point is the preservation of Lucas's style. Everything here pleases no less. These are cities that are similar to both Naboo I episode and Tatooine IV episode. This is nature, similar to what we saw in the second part (during the rapprochement of Anakin with Amidala), or Kashyyyk with his battles in the forests. Everything looks natural and beautiful. There are no eared adherents of the dark side wading through unnatural winter forests built on the old 3D engine. The whole environment looks beautiful, appropriate, familiar from the atmosphere. It seems to be called landscape design.

The plot of the film is not snot, does not shine with pathos. Everything happens naturally. The heroes look vital, at first glance, there are no problems of logic. The actors also played very well. Emotions want to believe, the motivation is clear.

Episode VII of Star Wars was exported at the expense of the name. If you remove the name, you get a parody of Part IV with comic physics and a trashy plot. Rogue One, on the other hand, is a terrific epic saga. One of the best films in the Star Wars universe.
