Therefore, I was with great enthusiasm awaiting the release of the new fourth part of the adventures of Dr. Jones. Only later did I find out about the contradictory attitude of many fans towards this part. I will try to consider the film in more detail ...

Almost 20 years after his last adventure, archeology professor Henry 'Indiana' Jones has a new mission: to go to South America and solve the mystery of the mysterious crystal skull - to understand whether it is the key to finding the golden city of Eldorado or proof of the existence of an alien intelligence? Jones is accompanied by a longtime friend of Mac and a young biker Dog Williams, and they should hurry up, because the heroes have Soviet agents headed by the fanatic scientist Irina Spalko, who is eager to get to Eldorado first.

Despite the fact that 19 years have passed since the last film, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, who once created Indiana Jones, did everything possible to return us to the world of his exciting, dangerous adventures. Logically speaking, they still succeeded. There are all the main elements for which we love and appreciate adventure cinema: an interesting plot, the search for relics lost in the chronicles of world history, spectacular battles and truly incredible incidents that boggle the imagination: here I will note the attempts to escape from the nuclear bomb test site and the fall from the waterfalls - yes, in the plural ...). Fans of the original trilogy will undoubtedly be pleased with some references like the Ark of the Covenant or the return to Marshall College. You can also appreciate the funny moments - a distracting fight to cover the escape from the KGB agents, trying to get out of the quicksand with the help of a python rope, and fencing in moving cars.

After several views, I realized what the fans of the trilogy might not like. What remained strange for me too. This includes the plot. In principle, I am glad that the creators turned to the culture and history of South America and its wonders. But still, all the explanations and interpretations took place at such a fast pace that sometimes you cannot keep up with it and begin to hardly understand what is happening in the future, by the end there are many questions. Also, I still don't know how to relate to the extraterrestrial elements that were used in the plot: it was undoubtedly interesting, but was it necessary? And finally, after all, the film already looks so modern - you no longer feel the spirit of history that was in the first three films. The fourth part looks too independent, as if existing separately from the entire franchise.

To see again Harrison Ford in his crown image - the brave and fearless archaeologist Indiana Jones in the trademark fedor hat and armed with a pistol and a whip, who goes in search of antiquities again and again and always with someone who will race against his age, who, despite his age, will give a head start to young people. and which, even so many years later, still wins our hearts, returning to our lives as a beloved hero of our childhood!

His companions - Dog Williams (Shia LaBeouf), a biker-greaser, who finds unexpected solutions to hopeless situations, perfectly wields a sword and becomes a faithful partner for Jones; Mack (Ray Winston), Indiana's longtime friend but impossible to see through and always plays by his own rules; Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), Indy's longtime lover, who bursts into his life again and reminds of his feelings; Professor Harold Oxley (John Hurt), who was also looking for a clue to the crystal skull, but paid for it with his mind ...

The antagonist was chosen as a very effective one - Cate Blanchett played the role of the fanatical scientist Irina Spalko, once Stalin's close associate, now a hunter of antiquities, eager to gain knowledge. Something like Jones, except for the cruelty, villainous inclinations and a squad of spy agents who will obey her every order.

To summarize, I liked the movie. And immediately, even at one time, I bought a disc to review it. But still, if we consider the Kingdom as an independent work, then the film is very good. But, as part of the franchise, it is still weaker than its predecessors, it is too different ... But I give a positive assessment.
