Swimmer Haley has a bad day, first losing a split-second swim and then a Category 5 hurricane hits Florida. To make matters worse, her father isn't making contact, so Haley goes to an already evacuated area and finds him badly injured and unconscious in the basement of their old house. Trying to get her father out of the damp basement, the girl discovers that a huge, aggressive alligator is lodged here. The bad day goes on - the water is coming in, there's no help to be had, and the toothy reptile is ready to attack at any opportunity.

Are you serious? The overwhelming success among film critics in the world and positive reviews on film search? I'm scared of such trends among domestic viewers, the fact that the Americans, as Zadornov said 'Well, stupid!' it was clear long ago, but that our viewers will sink to such a level... I've seen a lot of similar American films about alligators (crocodiles) killers, and all of them, of course, were primitive and notable for good visual effects (the latter I discount, because the movies themselves are not new), in fact, from the picture 'Trap' I did not expect anything new in this respect, the only thing that distinguished it from the general number of films of the genre, so this is more or less good visual monsters. But I didn't expect it to be so primitive and ridiculous. From the beginning to the end all is stuffed with director's nonsense and the most stupid American attempt of this genre, the plot is up to the hell, the daughter, the father, the family problems, special effects are ordinary and only sometimes there are really good scenes of alligator attacks. We are shown a very strong wind and rain, the tops of the palms and trees are blowing wildly in the stream, while the bushes below barely move. Our couple is trapped in a basement into which water flows openly from the street, which in turn is filled with water so that boats float on it, but the basement is like a bottomless pool, filled only at the will of the director. The city is flooded, also the dumping of the dam, but the water is fairly clear and clear, with only minor 'crumbs' for effect. There are two more characters in the story, the main character's wife and his second daughter, but they do not make any sense in the plot, just for the sake of our heroes to rub it in at the most inopportune moment and cry. Our daddy, the main hero, with his most serious wounds and fractures, would have been envied by John Rambo himself, and his daughter is not far off in this sense either.

Absurdity is everywhere, beginning with the dialogues and continuing with the plot sequence and all this absurdity unfolds in the territory of only one basement. Why the hell did the main character, when she first went down to the basement, sit on her knees and crawl through all this waste on all fours? Couldn't she have squatted or half squatted? The crazy dad always sends his daughter into the middle of nowhere, telling her 'You'll make it!' knowing that the basement is crawling with alligators and yet he keeps yelling at his daughter, who also has to yell back at him, and when things don't go as planned, our dad asks ridiculous questions through the wall, like 'Is everything okay?', 'Are you alive?'. By the second half of the movie, I'm tired of hearing our heroes grunt in pain, but bravely keep walking forward, in a minute already oblivious to their deep bleeding wounds.

By God, I don't know what in this movie would surprise and interest me and what so many people admire. There is a really good film in the similar genre, which is really interesting to watch and wait for the outcome, called 'Deep Blue Sea' about killer sharks, but 'Trap' lacks even a hint of any common sense. And even if you put aside all of the above and talk directly about the alligators in this movie, their attacks on people and mopping up, there's nothing new and impressive here. If a dad with a broken leg and his daughter the swimmer are cooler than dozens of alligators throughout the movie, what else can we talk about? The makeup is not bad, I repeat, there are some not bad attack scenes and that is all. The plot is out of thin air, there is no intrigue, the visuals of our green monsters are a dead 4 or 3 with a big plus. No, definitely not!
