Review 4K Movie

As a fan of animation I would like to share my opinion.

So, shortly before the release of the movie we were shown wonderful trailers with this picture. According to the trailers we can see wonderful graphics, and also an interesting concept of the world of elementals (water, fire, air, earth). I saw a lot of comments about the 'narration', however, as it turned out during the viewing, it is competently woven into the plot, and it is not so easy to notice it.

In the first frames we are introduced to the main character Amber and her family. If you think about it, a very kind and atmospheric fiery family. Here we are almost immediately exposed to the whole problem of parents and their children with the imposition of their ideas and ideals. And here I want to note at once, do not expect a detective and some villains - it's not good or bad, it's such an approach. And, if this approach can be interesting for adult audience, children get bored by the middle of the movie so much that some spectators left the hall every time (5-6 people). And it's sad, because it was obvious that the adult audience liked the movie more than their children.

But a little aside, as we know, Disney bought Pixar and this movie is the first (and probably the last) of their joint project. You can see that a lot of jokes were cut, probably under pressure from Disney, because of which the movie can't hold the audience, even for me some moments I just wanted to 'skip' as the tension was dropping and it became tedious. And this is probably the second major flaw of the movie. You can see with the naked eye how the mouse company is strangling Pixar on the background of their fishy failures (The Little Mermaid).

You can see that Pixar worked hard on the graphics and created a huge and beautiful city. The music and some of the nuances are also top notch. But there is a feeling, the same as when playing CyberPunk - a huge city, great atmosphere, but such a volume is not revealed even for a third. The same goes for the character reveals. It would have been very interesting to know the backstory of the city, the same applies to the development of love relationships, the history of the fire family and much more. Looking back, I realize that turning the movie into a League of Legends series was the right decision.

Over the course of the movie, Amber meets a kid from a water family. And the movie's second conflict is again presented to us right away. In addition to the parent-child problem, we now have the parent-child boyfriend/girlfriend problem. But in my opinion, these two problems can be combined into a generational problem. And because there is only one problem, the movie becomes understuffed. I want more action, more 'movement'. If this movie is for home viewing - you can watch it in the evening, but to go to the movies for such a picture - it is an unjustified investment of effort and money, in my opinion. Moreover, here it is very much drawn attention to the fact that the parents of the guy, knowing about the potential risks, fully support him. This moment should show that Europeans are much more reasonable than Asians! But, in fact, the watery family looks unnecessarily cardboard and you don't get attached to them. Again, the plot...

But let's move away from the plot, the animations and locations in the movie are really pleasing to the eye. Maybe Cameron should have made Avatar 2 as a cartoon, I can't help but wonder. This level of detail is really hard to see anywhere else, and it's a childlike delight even for adult audiences. There will be an underwater scene - eh, even the plot is involuntarily forgotten in these moments. It's been a long time since I've experienced such a thing, probably similar feelings experienced in WALL-E. Really, animators and cartoonists can put a monument for such a thing. And all this is complemented by an excellent soundtrack.

However, there are not so many beautiful scenes and almost all of them were in the trailer. Speaking of it, the trailer lies to the audience, many scenes in it are mixed up and the ideas about the picture are greatly overestimated. And some moments lead to cognitive dissonance. For example, the moment when the 'waterman' flies out of the pipe looks like they've known each other for a long time. BUT! It's the moment they first meet. Don't do that, Pixar.

Also quite interesting seems to be the life of the town. A lot of elements from life are shown and it's great. It's hard to describe in words, you have to see it.

To summarize, I would like to say that the movie turned out to be quite ambiguous. Great graphics, music. But with a spoon of tar in the form of a plot. Unfortunately, the plot is quite a letdown for the movie. And the idea of 4 elements is not new. In my opinion, the movie is well suited to watch in the evening with the family over a cup of cocoa, but is not suitable for wide screens. Still, the timing of the movie is severely unbalanced and the 'down' moments - you could have put croissants at the beginning of the movie and brought them in during the boring moments and distracted you a bit. As I heard a comment coming out of the audience the movie is good, but for once.
