Review 4K Movie
Immediately after its release and viewing by me, "Madagascar" became one of my favorite cartoons. It is difficult to say why and for what reason, and I do not really want to understand this, but the fact remains that this creation of DreamWorks is always pleasant and interesting for me to re-watch, so I do not regret those half an hour that I spent today on re-watching the cartoon.
As usual, I will start with the script, the idea and the characters.
At first glance, all of today's such fashionable animated cartoons are no different from each other and look the same, but I will immediately draw my attention to one of the unusual features of "Madagascar" - the number of main characters, because usually a proven and reliable trinity is used.
It seems to me that the 4 main characters symbolize different types of people's temperament. Alex the Lion is a born leader, a real "king of beasts", undoubtedly sanguine and, perhaps, a little conservative, in some way we are similar. Our monochrome friend, Marty the zebra, is similar in all respects to an unbalanced and fiery choleric at times. Gloria the hippopotamus is an imperturbable phlegmatic. And, naturally, the sensitive melancholic is most easily recognized in the suspicious giraffe Melman. Looking at the wonderful compatibility of the incompatible characters of the heroes, one should only marvel and try to learn from them such a strong friendship. Despite all the riot of colors in the display of the main characters, the creators did not forget not only about the secondary, but even about the episodic characters. All of them are colorful, as far as the plot allows. For example, the monkeys delight with each of their appearances, although the characters are passing. Scenes with the arrogant king of lemurs Julian and his henchman, tired Maurice, paint only at first glance a rather unusual friendship. And I am always not against remembering the uncouth savages fossa; a huge spider, who is remembered only for his cries of "Hit! Hit!"; a feisty old woman nicknamed Aunt; and a good-for-nothing zoo worker with a gun that he doesn't even know how to hold.
Naturally, no review can do without mentioning the audience's favorite characters - the penguins Skipper, Rico, Kowalski and Ensign. And I am always delighted with their episodes, take at least their maneuvers, which always leave me with the impression of "Mission: Impossible" (but there it is all serious), or their grandiose persistence in achieving a goal that turns out to be of no use to them. Perhaps the last one I want to remember will be my favorite secondary character - the lemur Mort (oh, what a good name), who was able to bribe me with one "Aha!".
Speaking about the plot in general, first of all, I want to say that this cartoon is an excellent collection of jokes, anecdotes, funny situations, parodies, quotes that you are not ashamed to say at any opportune moment, and all this is by no means stupid American or little-understood English humor, but something that will be pleasant, interesting and appropriate for every person, be it an adult or a child. Naturally, no animated cartoon can do without tragic moments, after which usually follows a moral one, however, this part in "Madagascar", as for me, is as shortened as possible and is present only as a tribute to the genre, so that children can learn a valuable lesson from this cartoon and, in addition, be sad.
The cartoon, in my opinion, is an excellent example of when slightly angular, implausible and outdated graphics at the moment do not spoil the overall impression of the film, but even give it some uniqueness and a special flavor.
Hans Zimmer once again did not let the viewer down and provided the film with high-quality and appropriate musical content. And, of course, we should not forget about the already well-known songs, the use of which only made "Madagascar" even more dear to the people. And also, having recently seen the video for the song "I like to move it!" on television, I understood absolutely for sure - I like this song exclusively when performed by Sacha Baron Cohen, his voice is suitable.
I am also convinced that the cartoon would not have been so popular in our country if not for a good and thoughtful (which happens extremely rarely) translation. Although the roles were voiced by celebrities, I do not see any particular problem in this, as for me it turned out tolerable. However, David Schwimmer, in my opinion, is quite difficult to replace.
"Madagascar" at one time made an indelible impression on me and, apparently, not on me alone, since there were so many attempts to repeat this success. As two years ago, I usually recommend it for viewing, there are no dissatisfied people left. Although I prefer puppet cartoons, I will never disdain this film.
