The action develops in a European village of the XIX century. The main character - a young man Victor - is dragged by the forces of darkness to the underworld and married there to the mysterious Corpse Bride, while his real bride Victoria waits for her groom in the world of the living.Despite the fact that living in the Kingdom of the Dead turns out to be much more interesting than his usual Victorian way of life, Victor realizes that he will not trade his one and only love for anything in any of the alternative worlds....

I first encountered this work by Tim Burton a long time ago, definitely before 2010. And, you know, I actually started watching it by accident, because I originally intended to watch something else, but that's how it turned out. And I watched it. Although the theme of death was off-putting at first, it's only in the first few minutes, while the unprepared viewer gets used to the cartoon.

The animation is mesmerizing: everything is filmed by hand, the puppets are made of stainless steel, the graphics are magnificent, despite the year of release, and everything looks so amazingly natural... Well, I'm talking specifically about the physics in this cartoon. Although I like the fact that it shows that people don't disappear after death, but can find peace in the afterlife.

Surprisingly, there are even songs dedicated to this cartoon, the most striking example being “Corpse Bride” by Green Apelsin. Although the cartoon itself is not without music, and, in fact, what I remember most vividly is the piano duet between Emily and Victor. Both the melody and the performance are magnificent, and to some extent, they embody the characters. However, given Emily's character, it feels like the more confident and louder part belongs to her rather than Victor.

In fact, I think this is a wonderful cartoon that tells us a love story, albeit through the mask of a horror story, and there are two subtypes of love here: sincere and false love, which in the literal sense turned out to be deadly.
