Norman, the Paranorman. The only hope of a half-asleep town in the fight against hordes of evil spirits. His weapon is a super-mega-gift: the ability to communicate with ghosts. However, dead people are not the main danger, much worse are stupid adults with shotguns.

Once on a pedestal, plasticine animation had so much creativity that 'Pixar' was choking on envy and eating cake. But... Those days are gone, and only a couple of branches, in the form of 'Corpse Bride' or 'Coraline' (which I'm not very pleased with, which is weird), from the ordinary 3D-animation was a holiday in my house. And then there's 'Paranorman'.

I'll be subjective, I love zombies (hi Romero, though he doesn't give a shit), black humor and, in general, I'm a gloomy person (within limits), so my tastes are like that. As for 'Paranorman', it justifies itself at all 166%.

The main character and his point of view on the world are introduced to us in passing... And, to call him a freak or a dude with a crank in the head doesn't make me want to, due to the fact that he is absolutely normal. He sees ghosts and talks to them, and can even save the town from the dead. Well, it's better to finish here.

From the climactic action begins to recognize a lot of horror movies, their stamps, even the music. Here, the whole movie, I wondered what it reminded me so much. Here, by the way, we are introduced to secondary characters, which is a plus. Anyway, it doesn't matter.

The very atmosphere of the small town, a lot of grotesque, surrealistic moments, ready to wrestle with Lynch and the 'Blur-head', and then, in fact, the main thing - the boundless chaos with the dead men. Here the cartoon begins to serve all new sides, as if tying the laces.

Sincerity and warmth, coupled with a reverent attitude to every other bush-that's what the real work of the creators. Having created such an indescribable picture, having turned out with colorful landscapes of a sunset and everything else (well, and still there will be something beautiful in the ending), together with suggestive horror, though from which frightens, unless a child, but such familiar, that you sink in with your head.

Well-designed characters, in particular, Norman himself, and black humor (although, few people laughed, but I personally almost fell under the chair) - another big plus. But the main merit of the creators is that they turned everything upside down in the finale. I don't know who it is, I'm not particularly sentimental, but there will be a scene from which emotions are not so easy to contain. I mean, it's an incredible combination of black humor and some drama, it has to be.

Beautifully bringing things to a close, the director puts down the pen and gives out an incredibly creative piece. A lot of cool ideas that find their proper embodiment, well-matched soundtrack, dynamism, and not a one-time thing, an excellent dose of the feeling of beauty.

The cartoon may not be recognized as the best of the year, but I don't care about all that - the love and sincerity with which 'Paranorman' is made are beyond any kind of 'Oscars' and even high box office. The main thing is that it is. Let it be so-until Frankenweenie came out, 'The Paranorman' is the best cartoon of the year, in my opinion, and all the rest I have already forgotten. The final chord is over the top.
