Review 4K Movie

Personally for me this movie is a cult classic, I have watched it a huge number of times, especially when the Christmas mood strikes me. This movie, of course, is the absolute leader among the "Vacation" series of movies about the Griswold family. It was scripted by a man of legend in the realm of silly positive 80's comedies, John Hughes. John Hughes got in a huge Christmas mood in the late 80's and wrote the scripts for "Christmas Vacation" and "Home Alone" - 2 films that are loaded with Christmas spirit to the max!

The movie has flaws too, for example, how many times I haven't seen this movie I have not once (!) laughed at a single joke. Some jokes in the movie don't catch on, Hughes kind of comes to the limit at some place where the audience should laugh, but he takes the highlight out of that scene, and the audience is ready to laugh and sits there with a half-smile during the whole movie. But that doesn't stop you from enjoying the film, because in spite of everything, it's loaded with positive Christmas energy.

Chevy Chase is supposed to play his best and most memorable role in this movie, his slow plunge into the Christmas madness is very pleasing to the eye. It is a pity that the movie is kept in a politically correct style, I wish it had been more alternative and the Chevy Chase madness would have reached a real comedic peak in the finale. The film shows that you can't plan things forever, because most of the time big plans (in this case, Christmas plans) fail. The movie is very leisurely, slow, loaded with light humor and can be watched with the whole family at Christmas (or New Year's Eve).
