In an attempt to win back the stewardess Elaine who abandoned him, former military pilot Ted Stryker, suffering from PTSD, boards the passenger airliner on which Elaine is traveling. During the flight, it is discovered that the pilots are unable to fly the plane due to food poisoning. Ted Stryker becomes the passengers' only hope for salvation.

Jim Abrahams, David and Jerry Zucker. The maestros of such a complex comedy genre as parody. “ Airplane” is one of the few of their joint works, when all three acted exactly as directors, not just producers and screenwriters.

The guys, of course, will still say their word in 1991, presenting a real bomb called “Hotheads”. But before that their debut and already legendary work “Aeroplane”, now ranked among the classics of Hollywood, as well as “Heads” is a benchmark of the parody genre.

The plot centers on a parody of the 70's hit “Airport”. Mocking, in addition to him, no less popular films of those years, “Jaws”, “Grease”, “Gandhi”, “Saturday Night Fever”, the creators form an insanely funny cocktail of mind-boggling humor and stereotypes about everything and everyone, who and what you can (Even Ronald Reagan, the actor who later became the American president).

Beginning with a terrific parody of “Saturday Night Fever”, in the form of a rousing dance in a club performed by the main characters, continuing to bring out the human moSk with Ted Stryker's ingenious memories of his military past and the pilot's questions to a little boy about Turkish prison and naked men, and sending the viewer under the table from laughter after meeting with the autopilot (a brilliant creation and a fantastic idea of the authors).

But that's something else, because, perhaps, the main thing in the movies of the trio of these directors is attention to detail. Not always noticeable to the inattentive viewer, these moments are the main razzle-dazzle of such movies. Phrases like “come to the white phone”, “check the oil level in the airplane”, or sometimes stupidity and banter in the background.

Another key to success is the actors. Young actors, led by the amazing king of parodies Leslie Nielsen, did well. But still the brilliant Lloyd Bridges, personally for me, the benchmark of a comedy hero. Lloyd, who struck me in “Hot Heads”, and here burns off not childishly. His hero his stupidity, comic actions and ingenious phrases personally I always make me laugh until tears.

I will repeat once again (maybe the authors of “Unreal Blockbuster” and “Very Epic Movie” will hear it) that the key to success of the kings of this genre is in the beautiful (by the way, not at all vulgar) and perfectly thought-out parodies, brilliant acting and banter, contained in the details, sometimes missed by inattentive viewers. As a result, not a single unnecessary joke.

Such movies should be on the shelf of every movie lover, right next to the cult “Hotheads” and waiting for the next opportunity to watch them, given the fact that they do not have time to get dusty. These are undisputed classics and reference comedies for all times
