The director set his first English-language film in a run-down motel in the middle of the Mojave Desert. Jasmine Münchgstettner, an ordinary German housewife, had a falling out with her husband, who left her alone in the desert. After wandering around for a while under the scorching sun, she arrives at a dusty motel run by Brenda, a sharp-tongued, tough woman who treats her new client like an alien.

After a while, however, these two very different women become best friends and together turn the motel into the best establishment west of Las Vegas. Jasmine simply attracts all visitors, especially Rudy Cox, a desperate romantic who desperately wants to paint her portrait.

This film by the relatively unknown German director Percy Adlon has, in my opinion, deservedly earned both praise from professional film critics and enthusiasm from audiences who admire its simplicity and heartwarming nature. The film tells the story of simple human relationships that take place in our mortal world, as well as the feelings that define these relationships: friendship, love, misunderstanding, disagreement, and so on.

The main character is an ordinary woman named Jasmine, who is sensitive, polite, unpretentious, unassuming, gentle, and yet capable of maintaining her self-respect. Her opponent, and in the future, her friend, Brenda, is definitely different from Jasmine in character: she is a quick-tempered, hot-headed woman who has been hurt by life and hardly knows what happiness is. Brenda and Jasmine's meeting may seem accidental in many ways, but it is clear that fate has brought their lives together, because only together do they enjoy life, revel in it, and feel at peace. Brenda's children — a boy who plays a musical instrument, but only finds someone who “appreciates his taste” in Jasmine, and a girl who is always disappearing with strangers, with whom she finds her pastime useful, but only finds a person in Jasmine with whom she can not only escape reality and have fun, but also communicate on equal terms on a wide variety of topics and discover qualities in herself that will allow her to become a truly mature person. In addition, it is worth noting the local artist Mr. Cox, an extraordinary romantic who, at first glance, fell in love with the charming Jasmine; With Jasmine's appearance, his life took on new meaning, and the owner of this life found his happiness.

The plot is simple and understandable: everything, like a boomerang flying in the sky, returns to where it started; and where there was sorrow, there will be joy, and where there was joy, sorrow will return.

The music accompanying the film fits perfectly into the background unfolding in one place or another of the feature film, and the title song of the film touches the soul.
