The ill-mannered but charming 6-year-old Mooney lives in a motel in Florida. While her negligent mother tries to make ends meet in various, often illegal ways, the girl is left to her own devices all day long. Together with the neighborhood children Muni hangs around the neighborhood unsupervised and without a definite purpose, bullying and rude to others. The motel manager, however, is patient and sympathetic towards his guests.

The film has a very apt title: the atmosphere of a holiday that is always close at hand. But it is not always ‘your’ holiday. And for most of the residents of the neat roadside hotel with the ‘festive’ name, it will never become ‘theirs’ and will remain a ‘project’ of another, better life.

The manager is a nice guy who sincerely tries to balance the interests of the “guests,” who are not very solvent, and the economics of the hotel business.

Cute children, left to their own devices, who are adapted to the world around them and enjoy life, entertaining themselves as best they can. And their pranks, which are ‘on the edge’, do not in themselves carry the aggression that adults read into them. Especially against the backdrop of the kind of children's laughter that is familiar to all parents of young children and cannot fail to annoy outsiders.

A young mother who seems to be able to be a provider, a protector, a friend, and an eternal Santa Claus for her six-year-old “Pippi Longstocking.” The only thing she doesn't know how to do is be an “adult” herself, learn to communicate with the outside world as someone other than a pubescent teenager, and at the same time explain to her beloved child “what is good and what is bad.”

Life is full of such stories. And it is extremely difficult to determine where the “fault” lies and where the ‘misfortune’ lies for a person who cannot manage to steer themselves out of their “project” into a more or less decent reality. Especially when they themselves are almost a child.

And it always surprises me, both in life and in movies, how easily, quickly, and unconditionally people abandon those who were close to them just yesterday, without any explanation. When one of the plot lines unexpectedly leads to devastating consequences (which, in principle, should not have happened) simply because people did not explain themselves properly. And the “abandoned” party simply does not know how to, and does not know of any other ways to influence the situation except through habitual aggression. And not because they are not ready to accept it, but because they do not understand “why?”.
