Review 4K Movie

The Cable Guy. An excellent drama. It’s about a man raised by a TV nanny who wants a real friend—not one from the screen. It’s about a man who’s willing to do anything for true friendship—and just as willing to do anything if that friendship is lost.

The Cable Guy—he’s a cable guy because this job is his life. He has never known a mother’s love—only what he sees on the screen. He has never known human friendship—only what he sees on the screen. And through this life from the black box, he—the cable guy—wants to find someone real, someone he can talk to, someone who will respond with the warmth of a human soul, not the static electricity from a TV screen.

“I just wanted to be your friend, but I messed everything up.”

Superb acting. Jim Carrey—a rare talent. People hate him for his over-the-top acting, but they also love him for it. The Cable Guy, in my opinion, is his most brilliant role: crazy, lonely, ready to do anything just to have someone by his side. All those facial tics and grimaces perfectly conveyed his character’s emotions. The entire scene at the end on top of that huge satellite dish deserves an Oscar for Best Actor. I was moved by every word he spoke, every phrase, every thought. After watching the movie, I immediately rewatched that scene, and the emotions hit even harder.

“There are still many young children who can’t be pried away from the TV; they still have a chance. Someone has to kill this TV junk.”

A magnificent tragicomedy that deserves the warmest praise. Thank you, Ben Stiller, for this—I’m not afraid to say it—masterpiece.
