There have been many films of this type made, and I myself have seen quite a few films with similar plots, so this thriller called ‘The Drop’ doesn't bring anything new to the table, but at the same time, I'm always intrigued by such films because I still love thrillers with their mysteries and twists.

According to the plot of the film, a young widow named Violet is going on a date to a restaurant for the first time in a very long time with a guy she met through a dating app, but when she arrives at the restaurant, Violet begins to receive mysterious messages from a mysterious stranger who threatens not only her but also her young son, who is home alone with Violet's sister.

As I mentioned above, the plot of the film itself is not new, but what is important is how this plot is presented to the viewer and how the actors handled their roles. Speaking of the actors, Megan Fahey plays Violet, and Brandon Sklenar plays her partner from the dating app who comes to meet her. His character's name is Henry. Overall, these two make a very good and harmonious on-screen couple. Most of the action takes place in a restaurant, and throughout the film, various characters appear on screen, including a very talkative waiter with a knack for comedy, a girl working at the bar, and an older man who came on a blind date. Each of them could be a suspect, or perhaps Henry himself is the mysterious criminal. I always find films like this interesting to watch because there are so many twists and turns, and you can always think, “He's the criminal, he's the one sending Violet messages.” According to the rules of the genre, the most suspicious characters are always the first to come under suspicion, but in reality, everything turns out differently.

Violet and Henry, I repeat, made a very good on-screen couple, especially Violet, as she had to portray a mother who is worried about her son and who is ‘on edge’ because of these threatening messages. The film is a bit drawn out, but overall it turned out to be a good suspenseful thriller with its twist, good acting, and gripping atmosphere.
