And so the measured life of a solid family is turned upside down when a young gentleman appears in the neighborhood - Mr. Bingley.... Pride & Prejudice is the benchmark for romantic dramas set in medieval England. With a hint of a sad ending, we get a full-fledged, heartwarming story that you can empathize with.

The film tells the story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy and their romantic entanglements. Family problems typical of 18th-century royal countries play a significant role.

An important part of this drama is that it does not focus on a single storyline, but instead highlights the entire Bennet family. Their diverse family consists of a nervous mother, a father who balances the parental balance, and five daughters, all of whom are versatile young women. It is noteworthy that these actresses eventually became stars of the British film industry (Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike, Jenna Malone, Carey Mulligan, Kelly Reilly, Talulah Riley). They were still very young, but international success was undoubtedly awaiting them in the years to come. It's hard to know who to admire most.
The British know how to make films about their past. In this case, the emphasis was on the successful marriage of girls of low status. Seeing how much their mother cares for them demonstrates her maternal concern. The father, Mr. Bennet, plays a truly important role here. There must be two parents in a family for spiritual balance. Here, too, he always helps his girls and supports them in difficult times. Donald Sutherland's character shows what a real father should be like.
Mr. Darcy is a mysterious, quiet, modest, and well-read man. His love is manifested in his actions. He corrects his mistakes and does everything in his power for Elizabeth. Their love is not easy; it is hidden deep in their souls, but ultimately bursts out in the misty dawn. Matthew Macfadyen could have become a star after this film, but unfortunately, he had to wait 13 years for the major awards (for his role in the series Succession).

The musical accompaniment, manifested in the piano playing, leaves us with a melancholic feeling. It seems to say that something bad is about to happen.

Even if you took away the main storyline, I would still agree to watch this film. The landscapes of England, royal intrigues, 18th-century customs and rituals, and wonderful supporting actors—these factors allow you to fully enjoy the celebration.

It's time to read the novel by Jane Austen. In my memory, Pride & Prejudice will remain a heartfelt drama that can be rewatched as long as there is good in this world.
