Sean Byrne decided to explore the theme of the devil from every possible angle: as a mystical figure, as the inner voices of ordinary madmen, and as an earthly, real evil that likely lurks within each of us. And I’m not afraid to admit that Sean Byrne has pulled it off brilliantly.

First and foremost, the film captivates with its soundtrack: yes, many people probably don’t know anyone besides Metallica, but the mere appearance of the demonic Slayer and Pantera in the film alone guaranteed that madness—brutal and devilish—awaits us.

Second, the film turned out to be very original. There’s a scene in the film that I haven’t seen in any other movie, which immediately speaks to its uniqueness and lack of clichés. Even though the premise seems fairly common: a family moves into a new house where strange murders once took place.

Third, it’s the atmosphere and attention to detail: a mysterious gallery, beautiful paintings, a deserted road, an old car, unique tattoos, and insanely beautiful guitars. And, of course, the main character’s flawless physique, which clearly draws special attention the moment he first appears on screen.

In 2009, I appreciated the brilliant horror film *The Lovely Ones*, which made a huge impression on me; it was even a masterpiece of its own kind within the horror genre. And with the bar already set high, I was especially looking forward to Sean Byrne’s new creation. The film didn’t surpass Byrne’s debut, but there’s no doubt it will go down in history as one of the most stylish, unconventional, and striking horror films—that’s 100%.
