Today's update is a terrific movie director: James Mangold. See 4k file format. The film tells about the relationship between American car designer Carroll Shelby and the brave British racer Ken Miles, who together challenged corporations and their own demons to create a completely new sports car that could compete with Ferrari at the World Championships held in France in the mid-1960s.

As a big and long-time fan of Formula 1, DTM and racing in general, as well as the work of Christian Bale, I simply could not go to the picture from the Bail + Racing components.

Frankly, it was a series of endurance races that always seemed to me something very boring, where even a commentator falls asleep on the air. But the film made me reconsider my attitude to this topic.

The film came out saturated, fairly truthful, slightly, perhaps, overly dramatic and hyperbolized at certain points, but this is a biopic, not a documentary.

Ken Miles, a former racer, now a mechanical engineer, a big fan of his craft, a racer who treats cars like living things. Age is not at all young (and for a rider 45 is not just a pension, it’s almost an old age), but there are dreams, and the love of speed and the work of his life also has not gone away. At the same time, there is a beloved wife and a charming son, he sincerely loves them, without putting his work in the background.

Throughout the film, you worry with Ken and for him: himself, his family, from the attitude of the “white-collar workers” to people like him (creative in his subject, naturally). At the same time, Miles did not come out as some kind of half-crazy introvert fanatic, poking around others and his family, for which the filmmakers are also a big mercy. Bale played great.

Carroll Shelby performed by Matt Damon. Also a former racer, designer of Shelby racing cars for sale, as well as a good person and friend. Shelby assumed the role of a link between “ordinary” people - the racing team, and the “top”: directorate, board, commissions and other administrative personnel. It was painful to see how at some moments he was torn between instructions from above and his people. I liked his argument about the route of the red folder. This is still relevant in many enterprises. Kerr has a great sense of humor (and a great stopwatch!). Just darling.

Lee Iacocca, Ford’s talented young marketer, at this stage in his career is still not always understood by high-level executives. In principle, he also came out as a positive character: he loves his job, he has new modern ideas, while he sees a little further than his nose, unlike ...

... Leo Biba. Oh, in this film, Leo is the reference “owl-effective manager” from the popular comic book. He has everything: fawning in front of management, strange decisions, stuffing his nose where he doesn’t know too much, and so on. I must admit the talented game of Josh Lucas, his character infuriates throughout the film.

The production of Ford and Ferrari is shown to us in the style of contrast, mainly in contrast between the leaders.

I don’t feel like writing about Henry Ford II. This is the director and co-owner of a large company, the character is rather exaggerated and stereotyped in his manner of communication, behavior and actions (except for the scene in the gt-40 at the Shelby airport, here you involuntarily penetrate him with some kind of positive feeling).

Enzo Ferrari with his team. Making Ferrari cars, as opposed to Ford's soulless conveyor, looks more like a gourmet kitchen. Everything is beautiful, clean, everyone smiles, works leisurely and tastefully, and real red speed devils come out of their hands (oh, racing Ferrari of the 60s are damn beautiful even by today's standards).

Enzo is a true leader, again, in contrast to Ford II. With their people everywhere: near their workplaces, and 24 hours on races, in the rain and at night. The episode in the Le Mans race finale - the tacit monosyllabic dialogue of Miles and Ferarry - is something.

In general, racing teams (both “ours” and “not ours”) and their actions at the races are shown as the work of one family, the team is a single, united and friendly team. The indescribable racing atmosphere came out very cool: for the sake of it we watch and attend real races and worry about the riders.

After watching, the shower left pleasant warmth and light light sadness from the tears restrained in the cinema.

Of the minuses, Christian Bale would have noted the Russian dubbing. The voice of the dubbing actor sounds much older than 45, and he has some specific reprimand, which, in my opinion, runs counter to Bale himself and distracts him.
