They killed Kenny! They are aliens, Kenny is Lee, the hero of John Krasinski. But nothing can kill the desire of the aforementioned John to film the continuation of the story of the invasion of aliens with big ears. Moreover, three years ago we left his wife Emily Blunt (as Evelyn Abbott, Lee's wife) in an interesting position. No, no, not in this position - as you remember, she has already managed to give birth. We left her with a shotgun, three children, and a vague hope for a better future.

Before continuing, Krasinski makes a long flashback of himself in the lead role and reveals the intrusion a little more. If this pace continues, by 2050 we will know the color of the spacecraft. In the same flashback, we meet Emmett, a neighbor of the Abbot family, who will soon take the place of a key character.

So, a shotgun, three children and some little things - all the simple belongings with which Evelyn leaves the house, simultaneously flooded and burning. Regan, the eldest of the children, armed with a hearing aid and a sound amplifier, sets out a target - a bonfire burning in the Appalachian Mountains a few miles to the north. There, the Abbots will find a lonely Emmett, surviving in the dungeons of a destroyed factory. In his blue eyes - inescapable sadness, in his hurtful words - tired anger, in his drawings - the faces of his sons, in his radio - the song "Beyond the Sea". Smart Regan recognizes the sign in the song and sets the next target.

And then, probably, the next one. And then another one. And then they will meet another character and play an important role on the way to the next goal. The second film completely shamelessly uses the achievements of the first and is an adventure in a quiet place and the movement of heroes from one location to another. It is like passing the next level of a computer game. What's that turning blue on the shelf in the closet of a post-apocalyptic carriage? Well, of course, a first aid kit!

How did it happen that a parasite film, an extended film, a take-off film, an exploiter film with no signs of new ideas still fired no worse than Evelyn's shotgun? How did this shot penetrate the armor of not only the viewer, who gladly brought money to the cashier, but also the critic, who did not skimp on positive reviews? On aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, there were 91 percent of such reviews.

First, they wanted to continue. You can't just take it, twist the shutter in the finale, grin and close the shop.

Secondly, the rolling success of the first film untied the studio's wallet and Krasinski's hands. The budget for the second part was almost four times the cost of the first. The newly arrived Cillian Murphy (it is he who plays Emmett) has eyes, of course, sky blue, but the beard is sloppy - it is unlikely that it costs too much. The money went to new monsters. Their number has increased at least tenfold, but the quality has remained the same - the monsters are still beautiful, terrible, toothy, clawed, bud-lamellar, long-armed and lightning fast.

Thirdly, "Quiet Place 2" is interesting to watch. The author managed to maintain a claustrophobic atmosphere (for example, Emmett's hideout is something like a hermetically sealed cauldron) and plunged the viewer into a constant expectation of an ambush. Not only from the side of the monsters. The first timid noses are poked out of the cracks by people - both normal and losing their human appearance. At the same time, Krasinski is not at all shy about taking jumpscare. Screamer, or "Boo!" in our opinion - a tool for the lazy, a horror crutch, but, firstly, it works, and secondly, this whole story is built on the alternation of complete silence and deafening explosions of action. To heighten the effect, the director sometimes completely cuts the sound track, switching to the perception of reality by the deaf-mute Regan.

Fourth, but not least, Emily Blunt. This time Emily the Beautiful will appear before the audience not just barefoot, bare-haired, scared, wounded and tense to a Y-shaped vein on her forehead, but also in the image of the Mother. Yes, yes, Evelyn gave birth to her fourth, but right now, when she goes out to the cameras with a baby in a sling and looks into the distance, the hands of our inner icon painter themselves reach for brushes and gold paint.

Having put pressure on our hands, we move on to the next reason. Strong women get stronger. No matter how demonstratively the traditionalists of our space spit white poison from masculine glands directly on the fem agenda, they have always loved both Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley. Having lost her son and husband, Evelyn just instinctively becomes stronger and braver - the children will not protect themselves. Regan takes her first independent steps to protect herself and others. Since birth, the deaf girl lives in a quiet place, so her exit from the shadows in “Quiet Place 2” is not only logical, but also symbolic. But there is a lot to be done on the path to leadership. First of all - to increase the speed of making vital decisions, otherwise it already enrages!

In order not to confuse critics with film critics, let us call the first critics. Some of these critics scolded the first film for stretching the idea for a good short film over an hour and a half. For you guys, the bad news is three o'clock now. For the rest, let me remind you that wandering among monsters in a post-apocalyptic world can be the theme of 177 episodes of the 11-season series. I hope it will not come to this, although the third step on this path has already been taken: "Quiet Place 3" is scheduled for 2023.
