Once in a prison called Shawshank, he is faced with the brutality and lawlessness that reigns on both sides of the bars. Review 4K Movie

As of 2021, there are countless stories based on the confrontation between injustice and truth. Some characters go out of their way to restore balance, others a little less willingly, but still strive to restore justice. However, there are still very few paintings like The Shawshank Redemption, because jumping over such a high bar is an almost impossible task.

Once in the right hands, even the most ordinary and boring stories can turn into a masterpiece, let alone good ones. Frank Darabont is one of those who succeeded with the snap of their fingers at least twice. His Shawshank is a separately existing world with its own rules and subtleties, with its presidents and commoners, where everything is decided exclusively by power and power over the fallen or accidentally lost. Getting acquainted with the characters, one gets the feeling that this is some kind of friendly or fraternal community, where everything is in business, where everything is stable, but sometimes you still get a “scolding”. However, we remember that the scene is a prison; that the main characters are criminals; that a lifetime equals someone's lost life.

The story of Andy Dufrein is masterfully built, and almost every prisoner with more than two lines causes a positive emotion in the viewer. And the point here is not that the creators are deliberately trying to "whiten" the bad heroes. The idea, rather, is that even a person who has committed such a heinous act as murder can still be human. This is the storyline with the character of Morgan Freeman or the touching story of the life of a character named Brooks, which leaves no one indifferent. The drama is built around each of them, because whatever one may say, we are talking about the lost decades due to a fatal mistake or human stupidity. This by no means justifies the characters, but it still gives food for thought.

How accurately and at the same time disgustingly depicted the power (in this case, a specific institution). People in a higher position will not let the prisoners forget where and for what reason they are. In the end, however, the film conveys a simple truth - power is not always one step ahead. The burden that falls on the shoulders of the protagonist becomes not a burden, but a motivation for life. In this vein, Andy Dufrein is a truly great character who competently interprets such obvious, but sometimes unattainable concepts like perseverance, friendship and justice.

Separately, I would like to once again emphasize the talent of the outstanding composer Thomas Newman, whose soundtrack surprisingly accurately fits the mood of the film, complementing its images and events with its heartbreaking motives.

The story of Stephen King, which served as the basis for the creation of the film, undoubtedly occupies a special place in its creation, nevertheless, the story is precisely the foundation that laid the foundation for a truly great story about the value of freedom, hope and perseverance.
