This movie is a glimpse into the future and a fond reminiscence of events and life in the heyday of Hollywood. Here, the forties meet the eighties, with a very unusual love story and a lavishly melodic old-fashioned musical with quite modern music.

Olivia Newton-John is very lively, young, and attractive. She, Gene Kelly, and especially the music by ELO make Xanadu a wonderful way to spend your time. Technically, the film is not very strong, but it is able to put the viewer in a good mood. It has the mood of an 80s musical, with guys and girls dancing in colorful rags, cheap glitz, great sound, and a silly plot.

It's one of those films that is strongly associated with its era. Xanadu is one of the first American films that comes to mind when I think of the 80s.

The creators tried to mix several styles and time periods in their work. All the time periods (something like what was planned to be similar to the 40s) looked like one. Monotonous.

Michael Beck looked awkward.

Despite all the film's shortcomings, there are still things that make you feel indulgent and friendly towards it.

It is perhaps one of the most grandiose and talentless yet enjoyable pieces of kitsch I have ever seen.
