For many years the United States has been fighting a grueling war, the population is impoverished, and to boost morale, the country holds an annual "Long Walk" competition. Fifty young men take part in it and must walk at a speed of at least three miles per hour, and after three infractions the contestant is eliminated. The winner will be the last one left and will receive a large sum of money and the fulfillment of one wish. In addition to other "lucky" participants, Raymond Garrity takes part in the new game, and he is in no hurry to tell his fellow travelers what wish he will make if he wins.

A political philosophical thriller based on Stephen King's novel. The film changed the final concept. The open ending was closed, which turned out to be controversial. The overall dynamics are monotonous, and in essence, it is a chamber and acting film. The acting is not bad, but I did not see any really vivid characters. The dialogues seem somewhat pompous, although the characters' reactions are emotional and lively. In essence, the viewer waits for the ending throughout the film, wondering about the outcome. And, to be honest, the film interpretation is slightly disappointing. It disappoints with its senseless hopelessness. The viewer is once again confronted with the grim truth of life, that there is no good in this world and love will not save anything.
Plot. In a totalitarian dystopia in the United States, young men are subjected to deadly trials. One hundred people must walk along a road at a certain speed without stopping. If you slow down or do something against the rules, you are killed. There can only be one winner. The prize is a lot of money and one wish of their choice. Along the way, the participants get to know each other and rethink their attitudes towards life, experiencing physical and emotional suffering.

I felt that the film was missing two things, depending on the overall idea. If it was meant to be an action film, then it lacked dynamics and some truly unexpected twists. If it was meant to be a philosophical drama, then again, I would have liked a less predictable and more original ending. If there had been dynamics, twists, and a finale, it would have been cooler. As it is, it's interesting in its details and overall concept, but it's more of a passable film and definitely not one of King's best adaptations.
