On July 18, 1981, Ed and Lorraine Warren attended the exorcism of little David Glatzel. The priest and the boy's family tried unsuccessfully to exorcise the evil entity, Ed suffered a heart attack, and then Arnie - the boyfriend of David's older sister - offered his soul to the demon.

Some time later, Arnie kills his landlord and then says that he does not remember what happened. For the first time in US history, a murder suspect claims to have been possessed by a demon, and now the guy's fate depends on whether the Warrens can find evidence of this.

Review 4K Movie

Not all mysterious events that occur in our world can be explained by the methods of traditional science. And this is quite a significant help for people to continue to believe in the supernatural and not doubt that another great adventure awaits us after death. Of course, in a number of cases, the so-called mythbusters, designed to bring swindlers and deceivers to clean water, were able to prove that the famous haunted houses and cases of obsession are nothing more than a clever hoax, and yet it cannot be said that absolutely all paranormal incidents are just a masterful hoax. Eminent researchers of the paranormal, Ed and Lorraine Warren, who founded the Society for Psychical Research of New England in 1952, and also opened a personal museum of cursed things, in which a considerable number of ominous, creepy objects have accumulated over the years of its existence, proved this by their example. The Warrens tried not to miss a single intriguing case in which one could find notes of the otherworldly, and therefore their names were closely associated with the ominous events in Amityville, Connecticut, Anfield and other cities, whose inhabitants faced the inexplicable. Of course, the Warrens had enough both well-wishers and enemies, accusing them of manipulating facts and even mental disorders, but again, skeptics did not have absolutely correct evidence of their point of view, and therefore the life story of famous researchers of the paranormal is still a symbol of that that our world is by no means so simple, and sometimes, where science simply shrugs its shoulders, amazing things happen that deserve the closest attention of the public.

Many of the cases that Ed and Lorraine Warren have investigated during their long careers have been repeatedly filmed in the format of films or TV series, but the heroes themselves have not previously appeared on the screen in high-profile projects, mainly being content with participation in television shows and interviews on radio broadcasts. However, the situation changed in 2013, when the director of the cult "Saws" and "Astral", James Wang, in collaboration with the producers of the studio Warner Bros. received a blessing from Lorraine Warren and won the right to direct the film "The Conjuring", where the leading characters were just famous researchers, whose names were unknown to a wide audience for a long time. The tape, starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, was based on one of the most famous cases the Warrens had, and in fact managed to scare the audience, who previously could recklessly believe that horror films have lost their former core and are no longer able to surprise. As you might guess, "The Conjuring" collected incredible money at the worldwide box office and, as a result, launched an entire Cinema-Universe of Horrors into active development with direct sequels to the original film and numerous spin-offs. James Wang himself subsequently directed the second part of The Conjuring and produced all the other films in the franchise, simultaneously exercising creative control over all the works. When Wang approved the candidacy of little-known director Michael Chavez for the post of director of The Curse of the Weeping One, he thereby prepared a man for the studio who was to stage the ambitious "Conjuring 3", on which the producers pinned special hopes. And although that "Curse of the Weeping One" stood out exclusively for its frightening moments, while the dramatic story itself turned out to be very straightforward, James Wang insisted that it was Chavez who took over from him in the main series of films of the Cinema-Universe of Horrors, and finally we have the opportunity to assess what the "By the will of the devil" really is.

The events of the "Conjuring" triquel take place in 1981 and send us to the provincial town of Brookfield, where nothing extraordinary and even more supernatural has happened for 200 years of its existence. And yet it was in Brookfield that the Glatzels faced their horrific nightmares. Having moved to a new house, the parents of young David (Julian Hilliard) believed that nothing unusual could happen here a priori, but the boy's body seduced a dangerous demon, which simply cannot be dealt with by means of traditional science and medicine. Only Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warrens can help in this situation, in whose practice there have already been many successful cases of getting rid of obsession. However, this time the demon does not so easily allow itself to be expelled, and even more, it brings a lot of troubles to the beloved boyfriend of David's sister, Ernie Johnson (Ruairi O'Connor). As a result of the action of forces that are beyond his control, Ernie committed a murder that sent him straight to the dock, from where he would most likely have to be sent to death row. However, the presence of Ed and Lorraine Warren at the exorcism of David Glatzel, where truly shocking and unusual events took place, gives Ernie Johnson a chance to correct the judgment. Researchers of the paranormal believe that the guy acted at the behest of the Devil, and will try to do everything possible to stop the nightmare spell, behind which is a very powerful enemy.

Despite the fact that the Cinema Universe "The Conjuring" already has many films, and we have already been repeatedly told about the investigation of the most terrible and unpredictable cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the authors of the franchise continue to keep their brand and manage to please fans of the series with strong detective stories in which reality very closely intertwined with the otherworldly. Of course, the change of director James Wang to Michael Chavez at the helm of the flagship films of the Curse universe has left a certain imprint on the artistic values of the narrative, but this does not mean that By the Will of the Devil strikingly loses to its predecessors. Perhaps the "Conjuring" triquel is perceived a little less frightening, and in some places not all frightening moments work for Chavez as effectively as for Wang, and yet the story keeps in constant tension, and the detective narrative line is even more sophisticated than before. This is exactly what the filmmakers have now relied on and have not lost, since it simply does not make sense to build the further history of the Warrens on intimidation alone. Thus, our heroes take an active part in the investigation, delve into the essence of investigative cases and get even more screen time than James Wang himself gave them.

In addition, it is worth noting that in the third "The Conjuring" there is a fair amount of charming situational humor, which allows the viewer to relax a little, take a breath, and at the same time, with the help of jokes, the authors reveal the characters of the heroes, show them from a simple human side and thereby endow them life. The amount of humor here is strictly verified, it does not interrupt the tension and intrigue, which means the director did everything right. Well, the permanent acting duet of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga completes the overall inspired impression of the production with its charisma, which not only did not fade, but even became even stronger, because their heroes are already perceived as our good friends, whom you can always rely on.
