And she behaves outrageously....

While the horror film “Astral. Curse of Lilith”, in which there is no Lilith, in ‘Borderlands’ she is. She is there - the main character - with cool purple bangs, unkillable, brave, MilaYovovichnaya all of herself - except that she plays not Mila Jovovich, and twice Oscar-winning Galadriel (crossed out) Cate Blanchett. Let's keep politically correct silence about the actress's age (let's just say that the average age of actors playing the team to save little Tina is 50.4) and just take the casting director's word for it that she can fight, do somersaults, fire plasma cannons and be cooler than Xena, the Warrior Queen. I just have a question about her bangs. Her characters are always in trouble - fighting, hanging over the abyss, being rescued from acid and the womb of an infernal worm - what can I say, in one of the scenes they are pissed upside down! - but her pink bangs are always in perfect order. Is it made of stainless steel? It's a mystery.

I basically knew what I was getting into. About zero ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and so on. Well - the movie is, of course, horror, but not horror-horror! I experienced some shock only once - when it came to me that the director of this thrash-movie is Eli Roth. Eli Roth! The author of “Fever” and “Hostel”, the uncompromising and terrible Eli Roth, who is not afraid to show on the screen what others dare not. Well, James Gunn made “Guardians of the Galaxy” after “Slug”? Why can't Roth?

Unfortunately, the screen adaptation of the computer shooter “Borderlands” is not “Guardians of the Galaxy”. Take for example the most unassuming and at the same time the biggest member of the team - Krieg (Florian Munteanu). What can you say about him? What emotions does he evoke? I don't have any. And it's practically a symbiosis of a little-talking Groot and heavyweight Drax from “Guardians of the Galaxy”. The same can be said about any character in the movie - alas, even my favorite Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays with a look of “I'm here by accident, the agent got it wrong”. And she also has an Oscar, and a warm one at that! And the main villain? Well, is it a villain? And noisy and annoying robot Iron (in the original Claptrap) can neither by design, nor by its function in the movie to compete with R2D2 (who was silent), nor with Marvin (who is melancholic and Alan Rickman), nor even with Robogozin (who is Burunov). Yes, he has one funny joke about Sparta, but it's made up for by a cringe-worthy scene with defecating cartridges.

Was I bored at the screening? No. Did it take my breath away? No. Do I recommend this movie to you? Against a meager box office, “Borderlands” isn't just good - it shines like the phoenix sign of the Iridians. And the fact that we have such a box office... Well, uh. if we're passing through the piss valley of thrash movies, we'd better close the window tight. So Eli Roth doesn't get anything.
