A soldier of fortune is tasked with finding the son of a client hiding in the Amazon jungle. A young man who is obsessed with the idea of searching for the riches of the country of Eldorado. The mercenary is infected by the guy's enthusiasm, and the two of them continue to explore an abandoned mine, which promises to make them the richest people in the world. But this arrangement does not suit the head of the local mafia, who is also not averse to appropriating the treasures of an ancient civilization.

The action scenes are spectacular... It's like watching an advertisement for women's underwear in one breath!
The eternal pitfalls of action movies: cartoonish fights, drawn-out shootouts, and the aesthetically glossy faces of the main characters. Sometimes even the fame of the producers and directors can't save a movie!

But this cinematic treasure is clearly not lacking in quality, and there's no trace of ridiculous mistakes by the filmmakers here...

The fast-paced plot develops briskly without a tedious introduction, immediately making it clear that we are in for some worthwhile action!

The main character, a wise “muscleman,” collects debts, but he does so sensibly and fairly, despite his boss's immorality. Another order sends the hero to the jungles of Brazil, where, according to the same boss, his son Travis is hiding. It is precisely his delivery that our “skinny” sledgehammer must take care of.

The transportation of the living cargo is complicated by a small snag, namely problems with local gold miners...
The main character has to “dislike” them too. In short, both the son and our bouncer are in deep trouble... Terribly attractive chases and fights, accompanied by a search for ancient treasures...

The magnificence of the evil and funny faces, the spectacular fights and forest chases make you admire the idea of its clever creators and performers!

Hollywood darling Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is, as always, inimitable and colorful, Christopher Walken, playing his usual villain, fits right into the picture, and director Peter Berg is a true master with a capital “M.” His future films, The Kingdom and Hancock, only confirm his professionalism and ability to work with “action” material...

But an interesting thing happens—everything worked out, everyone is happy... but the money collected from the action movie is w-a-y too low! Undeservedly low box office, a very strange situation with distribution...

Despite the financial loss of The Rundown, the adventure action movie was a success, and it would be wrong to call it mediocre!
