I always enjoy watching movies like Eaten Alive! Sometimes, while watching, I enjoy sitting and thinking about the intentions, motives, experiences, etc. of the entire film crew that shot this trash. Did they realize that they were producing blatant trash that shocks precisely because it is trash, rather than a shocking horror film? Did the actors realize that they were acting frankly poorly, or even just hamming it up? Sometimes I think about these questions more than I do about what such a film should ideally be asking.

Right now, I'm wondering how it's possible to make an excellent film with such a frankly weak script, which has only a couple of interesting moments, and with actors, half of whom ‘came’ to horror from pornography. Dragging Ivan Rassimov and Mi Mi Lai from film to film does nothing to improve this unsightly situation.
The study of our world by enthusiastic ethnographers, biologists, botanists, and other curious people has revealed to us previously hidden tribes whose way of life has changed little since ancient times. The so-called civilized world rushed to study these so-called savages with a magnifying glass in hand. And some adventurers tried to settle in this world already touched by civilization, where completely different laws rule. Those who were accustomed to expressing their thoughts creatively began to make films about them. Alas, not everyone was able to do something truly worthy. I am not talking here about documentaries, although mondo documentaries are quite acceptable in this circle; I am talking about feature films.

Lenz, like the mondo documentary filmmakers, apparently decided to show the most shocking moments of the way of life of tribes that are foreign to the average person. In Eaten Alive!, he used a fairly common technique. The main character goes to investigate. In this case, the heroine of the film sets out to find her missing sister. From the very beginning, it becomes clear who is destined to survive in this “cannibal hell.” Unfortunately, this does not add to the film's appeal. Its only plus is that cannibals are given secondary roles here. The main driving force of the plot is a sect.

In general, this film does not stand out in any way, standing on a par with other trash films of the same kind. It can only be recommended to those who love this genre of cinema, and to those who are crazy about cannibalistic themes in cinema, although fans of this genre will be somewhat disappointed for the reasons I mentioned above.
