The year is 2257. The homeland of Todd Hewitt is the colonized planet New World, where the thoughts of men have a visual and sound embodiment and are called noise. The guy lives in a small village inhabited exclusively by men, and has not yet learned to hide his thoughts from others. One day, a reconnaissance ship from the second wave of colonists crashes over the planet, as a result of which Todd sees a girl for the first time in his conscious life. The local mayor decides to use her in his insidious plans, but the girl escapes, and now she cannot do without Todd's help.

Imagine a society in which people are able to hear each other's thoughts, curious, isn't it? Moreover, there is not a single woman in this society, but it is located on a distant planet somewhere among the stars.

Hearing a short description of "Treads of Chaos" I became interested, and a lot of questions began to spin in my head. What have people forgotten on this planet? Where did this collective gift for mind reading come from? Why the hell is there just a couple of youngsters and not a single beautiful lady in a crowd of grown men? These questions alone were already a weighty reason to wait for the premiere of the film, and when I found out that Doug Lyman, who united Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley and Mads Mikelsen under his wing, was going to shoot, the question of whether to watch or not disappeared completely.

And so, I am writing these lines two hours after the end of the credits, I am writing in a very disappointed mood. The film turned out to be far from being as good as the names of its creators, a brief description of the plot and commercials promised. Those three questions that I voiced in the previous paragraph, in fact, contain all the intrigue and essence of what is happening on the screen, but this was not enough to create a really good film. The characters of the heroes are practically not revealed, their actions are impulsive - unreasonable, and the plot develops too sluggishly, as a result, the action is unable to veil the hack work of the scriptwriters.

One of the most important emotions that the viewer should experience while watching a movie is empathy for one of the heroes of the story being told, I have not experienced this. The authors did not reach my heart. I didn't give a damn about the fate of the main characters - this is a very bad sign, which indicates significant shortcomings of the entire film crew.

Despite all the shortcomings described above, I would like to say that the film is not bad. In the first half hour of screen time, there is even an intrigue multiplied by mystery, but it's a pity that it disappears by the middle, and at the end everything completely rolls into a banal running around with shootings. Also, of the pluses, I would like to note Mikelsen's charisma, Holland's charm and an intense soundtrack. Thanks to all this, I do not regret the time spent watching "Chaos Treads", but I am vividly aware that in a couple of days this film will be erased from my memory and I will never want to watch it.
