Bobby Bowfinger is a cool guy! It doesn’t matter that he’s a completely clueless director and the biggest con artist in Hollywood. Bobby has decided to make a real action movie. And not just any action movie, but a blockbuster that will bring in huge box office receipts and lasting fame. What will it take to make that happen? First of all, a good script! Bobby has a script. And what a script! In it, sinister alien creatures descend to Earth in raindrops and attack people. Second, he needs to land a superstar for his movie! And not just any superstar, but Kit Ramsey himself—a true action hero. Then, to see their idol in Bobby’s movie, legions of obsessed fans will rush to the theaters, waving their fat wallets. And then he can sit back, rest on his laurels, and sign autographs. There’s just one small problem: Kit Ramsey has no intention of starring in Bobby’s film. And so the “unsinkable” Bowfinger finds a way out. He’ll film Kit Ramsey with a “hidden” camera, creating situations that fit the script.

This movie is incredibly uplifting! Everything about it lifts your spirits: from the extraordinary, utterly tactless—and therefore incredibly interesting and entertaining—script to the actors’ stunning performances.

I had no doubt that a movie starring such wonderful comedians as Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy would be a blast, so as soon as I stumbled upon it in the catalog, I started watching it without a second thought. It’s especially heartwarming that Steve wrote the script himself. Now that’s a true talent!

The movie is so unexpected, unpredictable, and funny that I was literally cracking up. The premise is truly sharp and intriguing; after reading the synopsis, any curious person simply can’t help but wonder how it will look on screen—the filming of a movie in which the lead actor doesn’t even know he’s in it! Especially when that actor is played by Eddie Murphy, and the one planning to film him “on the sly” is none other than Steve Martin himself!

I really like the actress Heather Graham. I first saw this wonderfully beautiful girl in the movie *Kill Me Gently*. Even though that was quite a while ago, I still remember all the nuances and the tiniest details of that film, because at the time it really hooked me and made a huge impression on me. These two roles are complete opposites! In that film, she’s a serious actress in dramatic and erotic genres, while in *The Cool Guy* she plays a frivolous actress who’s ready to sleep with even a homeless man if he can help her get movie roles and shine on the big screen. But this girl isn’t as simple as she seems at first glance. After all, those who chase empty fame never achieve true success.

Be sure to check out this movie in your free time if you haven’t seen it before! And even for those who have, I think it’ll be fun to watch it again sometime, because this movie is a real gem—one of those that never gets old. And the laughs in this one… I highly recommend it to people who love to have a good time.
