Review 4K Movie

The Lost Boys' is a great vampire movie, which to my regret I managed to see for the first time only recently, although I've loved horror movies since I was a kid, but better late than never.

I was reminded of Rodriguez's 'The Faculty', only instead of aliens here we have vampires. And even if the plot is simple and straightforward, it fits perfectly for an entertaining horror film, allowing you to enjoy the uncompromising battle between a group of guys and vampires, without filling your head with all sorts of tricks and philosophical judgments. That said, it is very much a joy that 'The Lost Boys' is one of those horror flicks where the degree of tension only grows with every minute, and one of the reasons for that is definitely the excellent directorial work of Joel Schumacher.

I always feel a little bad for Schumacher, as he is primarily credited with the failed Batman, forgetting that he has a lot of great films and 'Lost Boys' is definitely one of Schumacher's best works. Schumacher manages to imbue his film with a 'vampire' atmosphere, and as I mentioned, there are no problems with the pacing. Especially Schumacher is very good with the scene before the final fight, when Sam unties Nunuk and runs in the house, my favorite moment of the movie, and there are very few genius scenes in horror movies, you may not feel tension like that in a whole movie. I should also mention the bright colors, so usual for Schumacher's other films, which are very appropriate for 'The Departed Boys'.

The acting in the movie was of a very high level. I liked the role of Corey Haim as the younger of the two Emerson brothers - Sam, he played very emotionally and naturally. Unfortunately, along with fame came a craving for drugs, to a large extent because of which his career declined, and in 2010 the actor passed away, but his role in this film will always remain in my memory. I can't help but notice the duo of the actors from 'Stay with Me' a year before, Corey Feldman and Kiefer Sutherland, and again they are on different sides of the barricades, Corey is a vampire hunter, and Kiefer is the leader of a gang of bloodsuckers. Jason Patrick as Michael's older brother did a great job of reincarnating his character. There are many funny moments with Barnard Hughes as the grandfather, and he will show himself in the end as well. I liked the wonderful dog, Noonuk, too; at times you worry about him more than about the human characters.

The Lost Boys' is a terrific example of what a horror film about vampires should look like, because there will be liters of blood, and aspen stakes, and holy water, and an unrelenting thirst for blood, in general everything is done according to the canons of the genre. Those who are used to judging vampires by 'Twilight' are unlikely to like this movie, but I'll stick with the real vampires, the missing guys.
