Review 4K Movie

I'll be honest, I read 'The Trial'. I honestly confess that I read it a long time ago. My attitude to such novels in my youth was like the proverb 'hard to learn, easy to fight'. I remember how tortured to the middle of 'Humiliated and Insulted', and then flew like butter, in one fell swoop. For the sake of such a feeling I was ready to endure all the hardships of such reading. I wasn't familiar with absurdism at that time either. I read it as if it was necessary for self-development. I should reread it. But I remember that the work was moving with quite a bit of creaking.

And you can't say that about the movie. It's long. But it is so dynamic that I'm sure the re-reading of the novel will be perceived somewhat differently. I didn't realize that there is so much dynamics in this work. Constant movement, constant intrigue and detective twists. Of course, all within the framework of the general absurdity of what is happening, inherent in existentialism. Or vice versa, without the framework of commonplace under the brand of absurdism. As one likes it best.

The movie looks very theatrical. It is natural for Kafka's screen adaptation to be pretentious and not realistic, but realism of what is happening is not necessary, and probably not possible. I liked the theatricality presented.

It's essentially a one-actor movie. For the most part, all the attention is focused on him. Those characters who sometimes appear and indomitably push towards the tragic end are just elements of the crowd. The basic concept of absurdist-existential works of Kafka's time was the idea of 'the individual against the crowd'. Hence the natural emphasis.

In general, in my opinion, the movie didn't quite convey the atmosphere. The transition from the main character's confidence to the hunted realization of reality is blurred. The feeling of hopelessness is not too pressing. And in the main character there is not much character. But that's just my pretentious view. Such as I would like and imagined, I did not see. And in general, a good adaptation of the novel. But the book is worth reading for sure. Such a book, no movie will not replace.

By the way, the movie is rather not one actor, but one director. Judging by the information about the process of filming 'The Process', Orson Welles put his soul into this movie.

Once again I would like to mention the performance of actor Anthony Perkinson. My words about not being characteristic are connected with my subjective ideas about the hero's personality, but the actor's performance is great in my opinion. Also in the film as the women of Mr. K. appear excellent beauties of cinema. Jeanne Moreau, Romy Schneider, Elsa Martinelli, which gives the movie a charm.
