Review 4K Movie

The movie 'The Keep' is a rarity nowadays, which is hard to find, download, watch, and even to find any information about it is quite difficult. And the movie is very worthwhile, professional and scary.

The idea may not be so new, but it is presented with great originality and meaning. And the demon himself will pass for an associate of Pinhead and his company of cenobites. So, about the plot: a group of Nazis come to take the defense in an old fortress, 1943-th year, a village in Romania. The locals don't like the fortress, but a gray-haired old man assures them that there are no demons or ghosts..... and at the same time, with fanaticism in his voice, begs not to touch the silver crosses. This duality of harsh objective realism and fanatical faith demonstrates extremely vividly not that character, but a certain spirit of the people. People go to church believing in a creature they have never seen, and all the stories can be considered bikes and fairy tales, and despite the bloodshed and the same Nazis, people continue to believe in a good god savior ...

Next I would like to talk about the cast. I don't think I know any of them and have seen them anywhere else. But the actors played very well. Characters are revealed perfectly, and with invested soul and talent. Even the minor characters, such as the priest and that old man 'don't touch the crosses!' are revealed just incredibly well to the end. The actors are very bright looking, the casting was clearly amazing, for the actors and their talent immediately plus the movie.

Now the atmosphere. Demon Fortress is not 'a group of stupid teenagers stay overnight in a cursed house' at all, no special typicality. And even if there are some traditions, given the year of the movie's release, it should be called one of the originators of such traditions. The atmosphere in the movie is creepy, doomed, hopeless. And even the main positive hero, so purposeful in his actions that his death and self-sacrifice are inevitable in spite of all sympathies. The atmosphere of the first half is dystopian with the actions of the Nazis. For every man they kill, suspecting partisan cover-ups, they shoot locals in front of the rest of the population. The horrors of Nazism, of course, are not revealed, but there is no need for it here. The spirit of Hitler's Germany and the actions of the characters reflect everything quite clearly. Here, in parallel, the ultimate evil - the Demon himself - emerges. Molasar or Rasalom. His initial appearance of a smoking something is extremely spectacular, and his power just seems to know no limit. He creates such a strong atmosphere of doom and horror that his aid to the professor and his daughter is just off-putting.

The demon himself is certainly good! Very cool image, very cool costume, awesome effects. It's a pity that a lot of power was left out of the movie, for example, the Nazis who were killed and burned were shown to us after the massacre. Demon is shown not so much, but in the most spectacular moments of the movie. And everything looks terrifyingly beautiful. This is how a real horror movie should be.

And last but not least, what we would like to pay our attention to when reviewing the movie 'The Keep' is the divine music, which falls into the soul very strongly and firmly, touching the heart, and causing admiration for the composer. Music in the spirit of Italian horror style 'Church', 'Flesh Eaters', 'Blood Red'. The beautiful music surprisingly emphasizes the entire suspense of the film, adding a touch of grandeur and pathos to it.

The movie can be considered a forgotten classic, putting a lot into the horror genre. And also a big plus for creating the scariest, most powerful and invincible creature in the history of horror.
