Sydney Pollack and Dustin Hoffman demonstrated the utmost class by creating a true masterpiece of cinematic art, and the film academy once again demonstrated a complete lack of class or even just an understanding of cinema. I've never met anyone in my life who didn't like Tootsie. I regret that I don't speak English - I really wanted to see the movie in the original. It's impossible to appreciate such details as Dorothy Michaels' southern accent in translation. I've seen the movie in several translations, starting with Alexei Mikhalev's translation on videocassettes from the late 80s.

Numerous dithyrambs to the entire creative team sounded and sound uninterrupted, fundamentally nothing to add. But there is one subtlety: in 'Tootsie' the creative method of Dustin Hoffman and Sydney Pollack is declared. Dustin demonstrates in detail all the subtleties of his skill: the juiciest, most delicious tomato; the ability to die on stage not abstractly, not keeping in mind the audience in the audience, but really, according to the logic of the event itself, etc., etc.

Both Pollack and Hoffman never descend into the saving grotesque of Hollywood mediocrity. Michael Dorsey's failures in employment ('unlivable', as one of the reviews said) are due to the rejection and misunderstanding of the world of theater and cinema of this factor. The role of a woman Michael takes not because he is looking for work and needs money, not at all. He undertakes to prove the correctness of his method and his art of realizing his own creative views on the game and what is acting in general. Both in the movie and in the real world, Hoffman and Pollack proved their creative credo, although at the cost of petty revenge movie academics - Oscars two geniuses still left out, although Jassica Lang, as left out of the battle of the giants, from the bar shoulder Oscar still threw.
