A childless couple of farmers live in the foggy Icelandic wilderness. One day, one of their sheep brings a mysterious creature, which the couple take into the house and decide to raise as their own child.

We can safely say that the current Cannes Film Festival was definitely a success. As part of the film festival program, a lot of potentially interesting and really worthy films were shown, for viewing which one does not feel sorry for the time spent. As if the triumphant of the festival "Titan" or "Lamb" by Valdimir Johannsson, who received the award for "the most original film of the year" and after watching the picture you have no doubt that the award is deserved.

The plot of this tape develops around a childless married couple Ingvar and Maria, who lives in the foggy Icelandic wilderness. One day, one of their sheep gives birth to a girl with a human body and a ram's head. Maria and Ingvar decide to take the baby home and raise her as their own child.

Definitely one of the main advantages of this tape is a very deep and really interesting script. It would seem that we have before us a fairly ordinary story about a childless married couple who are raising someone else's child and the presence of this child brings both a breath of life to their relationship and wholeness to their family ties. However, by changing just one detail, the authors of this tape brought a double meaning to the story, which slowly and even monotonously develops until the very final credits and, like a flower bud, only under the final frames reveals the true meaning of what is happening and the main moral of the picture.

The very nature of life is like a boomerang, and sooner or later a person will have to answer not only for what he has said and done, but also for what you have not yet managed / decided not to say or do. But the most important thing is whether foster parents are able to replace relatives for a child, whether blood ties are more important than parental love and care, and so on. All this is literally exposed in the last minutes of the picture and practically explains everything that happened in the last 100+ minutes.

The director of this tape, Valdimir Johannsson, made a very strong film, which personally made a very strong impression on me. Johannsson's painting is distinguished by a very monotonous, viscous and heavy narrative, which produces an almost hypnotic effect. Fascinating with picturesque locations, intoxicating with passive musical accompaniment and telling the story with the very emphasis on “reading between the lines”, which Johannsson presses on instead of chewing for the viewer and letting them swallow without much thought at the end of the viewing.

All actors, without exception, did an excellent job with their tasks on the screen and demonstrated complete immersion in their images. As if real people are on the screen, and not actors at their work.
