Story Movie

Here the reasons for the appearance of the spirit-abomination Freddy Krueger, who from the very beginning took revenge on the inhabitants of his hometown, are revealed. Neglected by everyone since childhood, Freddy has grown up to be very spiteful. He is tormented by a homicidal mania and kills children by luring them into an old boiler room. When the court acquits the maniac on a technicality, the enraged parents of the victims lynch him.

Review 4K Movie

That's exactly what this film could have been called. Not just Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, and certainly not what our distributors called it, A Nightmare on Elm Street 6: Freddy's Dead. In general, our translators probably didn't like this film very much, as the translation of many scenes only provokes laughter and irritation. How can you translate “Prime Time” as ‘Fun’? And what kind of laughter will the translation of the phrase “You're f...ed” into “We're here” cause? Although this may be a type of humor.

Not long ago, I suddenly wanted to watch all the parts of the movie series A Nightmare on Elm Street. At first, I liked everything. But after the disappointing fourth and fifth episodes, I didn't really feel like continuing to watch. I expected the worst, but it turned out very well.

The reason for the success and at the same time the failure of this series is that it is a parody of all the previous parts. It's a full-fledged comedy, not the strange banter that was present in the previous parts. Sooner or later, the series would have descended into self-parody anyway. As I've said many times before, for me, horror is a separate genre of comedy, it's the perfect case.

The script is good, but to understand that, you have to watch it with a parody mindset. There are some gaps in the plot, and some of its twists are absurd and banal, especially the joke about “Freddy's children.” Some characters appear and then disappear. There is no main character; it constantly changes. But there is a lot of funny banter here, making fun of the entire series, which is why many fans refuse to acknowledge this film. And the scene with the “Dandy” prefix is a masterpiece. They say that the script for this part was written by Peter Jackson, but his version was rejected. It would be interesting to find it somewhere and read it.

Only in this part of the series did a woman, a certain Rachel Talalay, become the director. And this is her debut, although after this film she never made anything worthwhile, except for a bunch of TV series. And as paradoxical as it may seem, the directing is quite good. The film is easy and interesting to watch, which is especially pleasing after the boring ‘Dream Master’ and ‘Child's Play’. Although in places there is no clear genre consistency.

Many people criticize the actors here, but I won't. Of course, because there is no real main character, the film lost a lot, as the secondary characters take all the attention. I really like Robert Englund in this part, he is wildly funny here, and at the end I feel sorry for his character again. And it is in this part that we see his real face without makeup. The then-budding actor Breckin Meyer also starred in this film. He has appeared in a bunch of films, including Rat Race and Kate & Leo. Personally, I like him, and he has a very funny role here. And of course, how can we forget the short but wildly funny scene with Johnny Depp on TV?

The visuals are good, although not even that great for their time. The last twenty minutes are shot in 3D, and many still say that this craze started after Avatar, well, well.

The soundtrack is magnificent. There is almost no original music from the first part. But there are two wonderful songs by Iggy Pop and Johnny Lowe. Add to your playlist!
