Evil Dead Rise 4K 2023 Ultra HD 2160p
Caught in a difficult life situation, Beth arrives in Los Angeles to visit her older sister Ellie. On the spot, she discovers that her husband has left her, leaving her with three children, and their apartment complex is about to be demolished and a new house has yet to be found. Deciding to talk to her sister alone, Ellie sends the kids out for pizza. On their way back, they experience an earthquake, a sinkhole forms in the parking lot, and the older Danny finds an ancient mysterious volume and records there. Out of curiosity, after opening the book and listening to the records, the boy unleashes evil forces that immediately possess his mother and will now try to drag everyone present, and especially the children, to hell.

Review 4K Movie

Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" trilogy is beloved by many, thanks to its unique blend of black humor, mystery and slasher. And even with a nice tilt towards the comedy genre, the series of films about the adventures of Ash became a cult in the world of horror and a worthy representative of the pop culture of the 80's.

There are few comedic moments in this new movie about the uprising of the undead, but there are plenty of dramatic and serious ones. Starting with the introduction of the characters and ending with plot twists. Heat of passion adds and a large number of actors underage. And here the question arises, how necessary was it to involve children in this showdown of people and the dead? A display of courage from the director or to squeeze pity out of the viewer, given the tone of the picture's narrative? The big problem with most overly dramatic reboots/remakes/sixquels of cult franchises is that the originals didn't convey any serious ideas or waste precious minutes of running time on heartfelt conversations. And if the originals with Ash played by Bruce Campbell, who incidentally is a symbol of the franchise along with the conditional Freddy Krueger for "Elm Streets", could besides humor impress with their oppressive atmosphere, the modern film is only scary with endless screamers. Remember at least that very claustrophobic scene in the finale of the first "Evil Dead," where Ash literally goes crazy, breaking the fourth scene and laughing in the audience's face. The horror effect is created directly by the atmosphere of the scene. And in that sense, the modern retelling of the classic has nothing to do with the original trilogy. The connection with the previous films of the Sam Raimi film-franchise is preserved only by four items at most: vinyl records of spells, the Necronomicon, and a chainsaw and a shotgun. But in my opinion, this is not enough to consider the new Sinister Dead movie a return to the roots and canon, as the press says.

The success of the original films about poor man Ash, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, can also be determined by the conditions under which the film was created. A small team of enthusiasts, figuring out the formula for the popularity of horror movies, took on their project and created it "on their knees." Like many of today's iconic horror films like Halloween (1978) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). In this respect, Lee Cronin's new film really follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, "Rise of the Evil Dead" showcases well staged scenes and pleasantly surprises with its special effects, which were made the old-fashioned way. And the body-horror elements in the vein of David Cronenberg's The Fly or John Carpenter's The Thing are plentiful. But given that Raimi himself was not a fan of the horror genre, we can assume that the successfully woven comedic and parodic inserts that reach their climax in "Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness" just cut a path to Ash and his eternal enemies on a pedestal of glory.

The big question about the film is just what actually ties the new film to the franchise? After all, if you take out all the aforementioned inventory from the previous parts and the macguffin in the form of the Necronomicon, you get a conventional horror flick from the zero era with a synopsis a la 'A family has a horrible experience in a sinister half-destroyed house...'. But the picture is at least capable of reminding children of the simple rule of not opening the door to strangers' uncles, aunts and suspicious persons who pretend to be your relatives.
