Halloween 1977. In an attempt to boost ratings for the once-popular show, TV host Jack Delroy makes a special about the paranormal. He invites a psychic and a skeptic, and the highlight of the program should be a parapsychologist and her ward - 13-year-old Lily, allegedly possessed by a demon.

I'm not a big fan of horror movies, but the trailer of this film was interesting because of its 70's stylization and a touch of mysticism with references to “The Exorcist”. Actually, the stylization and the concept of “a live show in which something went wrong” is what makes this picture stand out from many of its kind.

I'll note at once that the movie can be called a horror with a great stretch. From 90-minute timing all movement will start on the final 15 minutes, and the rest is just a setting of pieces on the board and kind of suspense, though with suspense in terms of directing here, to put it mildly speaking, not to the point. And the picture itself is not scary at all, and at times causes laughter, which the creators originally clearly did not lay down.

The movie looks not bad, there are busy visual solutions and hints, but at the same time you should watch it carefully not to miss small details, which can be missed by blinking in time. In general, the direction here is rather bland and quiet, and this is one of the main drawbacks - in my opinion, the picture lacks a more tenacious and rigid hand of the director (there are two directors, by the way).

The main star here is David Dastmalchyan, and in terms of type - this is a hit in the top ten. The actor is charming and pulls out the flaws of the production. The rest of the actors are all in the right images, but again they don't jump above their heads.

The ending turned out to be so bad, because the creators, apparently, have not decided how to end it all, and therefore after the catharsis and the peak point, they decided to put a bunch of twists on it, but only, as they say, they twisted it, and it significantly blurs the impression of the movie.

As a result, with all the staging and script flaws, the picture looks with interest, and the entourage of the TV show of the 70s - definitely the main highlight. It's just a pity that the authors didn't quite manage to use it as coolly as possible.
