Review 4K Movie

So Donald Pleasance is dead, Michael Myers has been murdered for the sixth time in a row, and there's almost no one left of the main characters. You'd think it would be time to end this whole epic. The second part and the fourth part had normal endings. But the endings to the fifth and sixth parts were still relatively open. The producers decided to take advantage of this situation and once again gave the go-ahead to shoot the seventh installment of the franchise.

The main thing that can boast the seventh part - the return of the main character of the first two parts. Thanks to this move, the creators were able to achieve some consistency with the originals, giving the next movie of the franchise a twist. It would seem like a great boost and a breath of fresh air for Halloweens, but it's not all that smooth.

The film certainly has a very bright cast, with Jamie Lee Curtis, Josh Hartnett and even Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a cameo role. Everyone seems to be playing great and is a good replacement for Donald Pleasance. Hartnett, still just gaining experience in the acting craft, but, nevertheless, plays quite well. However, everything else here is, alas, much worse.

The film's atmosphere of fear and gloom is almost entirely absent. A lot happens in the daytime, the suspense is built up very sluggishly and everything is somehow, how should I say, without fire. Myers is not as brutal as in the previous parts, and kills almost all of his victims with a kitchen knife. In general, the plot is not very informative at all. Some people manage to show a whole epic story in an hour and a half, but here, the whole plot can be described in two words.

The classic franchise thing, when the main characters try to open a door with a key, at this time Meyers approaches them with a slow step, this film is not avoided. In fact, there's essentially nothing new here, but even what there is doesn't work to its full potential. In short, a potentially great idea was screwed up by the creators and Curtis' character basically didn't need to come back.

Halloween 20 Years Later is potentially the best sequel to Carpenter's dilogy. But in reality, unfortunately, the filmmakers didn't take advantage of that potential. As a result, this film will only be of interest to devoted Halloween fans. For the rest it will be an extremely second-rate horror film with the minimum of any ideas. Far from being the worst, but still a disappointing sequel to Halloween.
