Josh and Renee move into a new house with their children, but before they have time to unpack, strange things start happening. Objects inexplicably move, strange sounds are heard in the nursery... But the real nightmare starts for the parents when their ten-year-old son Dalton falls into a coma. All the efforts of doctors in the hospital to help the boy are in vain.

A few months later, he is returned home, where his mother and a nurse look after the unfortunate child. But the mysterious apparitions in the house continue. The desperate parents are ready to turn to anyone for help, and soon it turns out that Dalton is unconscious and connected to the paranormal world.

What kills me is the stupid habit of distributors of 'crushing' good horror films by limiting their screening area! I had to drive all the way to the other end of town to see the movie. Thank God it was worth it, because 'Astral' unexpectedly exceeded all my expectations, appearing to me as a kind of new formula of high quality and really scary movies.

The child of a young married couple who has moved into a new home suffers a strange and incomprehensible ailment - suddenly falls into a coma. Soon it becomes clear that the baby is not sick at all, but that evil spirits are trying to get hold of his body.

By and large, it turned out to be a simbiosis of 'Paranormal phenomena' and 'Drag Me to Hell'. All in all, a sort of spiritual horror flick. By the word horror, it is nice and proud to mean exactly the phenomenon of subconscious fear - no guts and brains hanging from the chandelier. In that respect, the film was most impressive, and the terribly grumpy and uncultured people sitting in the hall and disturbing with their chatter and grimaces after the first half hour were sitting quiet as mice, absorbed in the armrests. And this is an indicator, as I myself had almost shat myself at the end. In short, very scary.

It is interesting the technique by which this 'influence' on the viewer was achieved. The creators deliberately evoke childhood memories and fears: strange rustles, inexplicable creaking floorboards, eerily scary, filled with old junk attic, whispers and someone's footsteps, ghostly visions - in short, all the attributes. What is surprising is the fact that, basically, from beginning to end, the film keeps you in almost stressful suspense; it is interesting, thoughtful, and in many ways logical. The almost complete absence of humor, 90% of the filming in the dark or in darkened rooms - a clear guarantor to scare the viewer, make him afraid and completely immerse himself in the atmosphere of an irreversible nightmare.

The music suited almost every scene perfectly, it was either not there at all, for example, in moments of dialogue where it is not really needed, or it was sharp and gloomy, making you wince as if you were pricked by a pin. All in all, very much so.

In conclusion, I will say that fans of tickling their nerves, as well as fans of the genre - I strongly recommend to go, of course, better alone, but if you have a girlfriend/boyfriend - at least sit on different rows.

Then you won't get bored.
