Two buddies go to Las Vegas. Sports columnist Raoul Duke goes to cover the famous Mint 400 race. His companion's name is Dr. Gonzo, and he is a lawyer. The review of the Mint 400 turns out to be a complete failure due to inclement weather and the reviewer's lack of interest, so Duke and Gonzo head to the casino.

Some time ago, I noticed a rather interesting trend that applies to all art forms and their products. In this case we are talking about cinematography. A delirious, crazy and ill-advised plot, combined with killer camerawork and good actors, will inevitably lead to the birth of a masterpiece. At least, this result of alchemical experiments will be dubbed a masterpiece by a sea of fans.

Herein lies the mystery for me, which defies logic and comprehension. Because I am not an alchemist, and in no way can I digest films like "Fear and Loathing". Many times already, the big names have tried in all their glory to present the spectacle-hungry viewer with a bit of mescaline-cocaine-heroin nonsense. But this time there was an overdose. The film consists almost entirely of hallucinatory visions, confused thoughts and scary faces. Experience tells us that these are only scenery, a shell; there must also be an idea, a meaning. But no, you don't have to look for the dramatic component; the drugs burned it out. But as I said above, there will always be fans for such a cocktail, and even more than necessary. They have put this product on a pedestal of honor. As we all know, even in a fairy tale about Little Red Riding Hood you can find the deepest subtext, and not a very happy one at that.

All in all, "Fear and Loathing" is, to me, a completely pointless and empty film. If it were easy to understand, it would be bearable, but the situation is deplorable. It drains you of all your energy, tires you out, but gives you nothing in return. And after this crazy whirlwind, you feel about how the main characters look. Nasty.
