A musical about singer and dancer Jim Hardy, who leaves show business to become a gentleman farmer in New England. However, farm life turns out to be too difficult and mundane for him, and, trying to "kill two birds with one stone", the hero turns his farm into a country entertainment club, which opens its doors wide on national holidays and celebrations. His establishment could be called the prototype of the future Soviet "Blue Fire.

Starring the legendary Fred Astaire, by the time the film was made he was not just noticed, but already a resounding success and universal acclaim. "Slightly dancing" tap genius, like many other actors of the 40's who came to the barely spoken film from vaudeville, here he again plays a talented darling who is not very lucky with women. His movements again want to watch endlessly, and at the same time be amazed by the charm of this nothing, in general, is not a remarkable man.

Paired with him - Bing Crosby, another genius (at that time, it seems, they only starred), who earned as many as three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A singer, the creator of a string of musical hits, of course, an actor and just a good-looking guy.

And, of course, the beautiful women - Marjorie Reynolds and Virginia Dale.

The movie is almost a musical, which is actually not an opening, because almost all American comedy filmmaking at the time looked like a musical performance, in which the plot was not so secondary, but not so twisted that you can mark it somehow. But the numbers were so plentiful that watching each tape turned into a holiday. Now imagine that the picture itself is about a hotel that only works on the red days of the calendar. Yes, it's just a firework of songs, dancing, costumes, fun and humor! Of course, against this colorful riot (with a black and white picture - a delightful paradox!) unfolds an almost love drama, and sad, and touching, and slightly naive, but always with a good (and for all-everyone, because it takes place on New Year's Eve) end.

Lots of unique musical numbers (my favorite is the firecracker dance), beautiful sets and an excursion through the American holidays - what more could you add to that? The above would be more than enough for three movies. But why? After all, there's the Holiday Inn, whose doors are always open.
